Tuition Assistance Program

Cardinal Mooney High School is rooted in a strong tradition of religious values, quality academic programs and an atmosphere of Christian community. Our school is strengthened by a network of caring people -- students, teachers, parents, alumni, and friends.

Our hope is that each year more students will be able to enjoy the benefits of a Cardinal Mooney education. While costs continue to rise, we will make every effort to maintain tuition at an affordable level. Realizing that a Catholic high school education entails a significant financial sacrifice for our families, we are working to increase our tuition assistance program in order to help families in need meet tuition costs.

Each year we have awarded grants and scholarships to over 300 students. This aid is made possible through the Bowers Scholarship Trust, The Winter's Student Fund, the "Adopt-A-Student" Program, grants from the Cardinal Mooney Alumni Association and the Sisters of the Humility of Mary, as well as through efforts of our parents and several local organizations. In addition, approximately 40 students are offered part-time jobs at school to increase their tuituion credit.

This current year, tuition assistance totaling over $200,000 has been awarded:

-95 students have been awarded renewable scholarships renging from $100 to $500.
-approximately 230 students received tuition grants based on financial need ranging from $100 to $1,500.
-approximately 30 students have participated in our studentwork program earning $350 to $400 toward their tuition.
-3 parents have accepted school service jobs to help defray the tuition cost.
-15 students have received Adopt-A-Student grants ranging from partial to the full tuition cost.

In addition to the above, discounts for the second, third, and fourth child in a family are available. Also, we offer a professional courtesy tuition discount for children of teachers in our Catholic schools.

Scholarship and tuition grant information is usually available in the school office in the middle of January and forms are usually due back at CMHS around April 15.

To apply for financial aid, a family must complete a Student Aid Form, available in January. These forms are sent with a copy of the current Federal Income Tax Return to the Private School Aid Service. This company will review the family's financial circumstances and give an unbiased, confidential evaluation of its ability to pay.
