Alumni Spotlight

The CMHS Alumni Spotlight showcases and recognizes outstanding Cardinal Mooney Alumni for their academic and professional achievements, service to their community, and their continuation of Cardinal Mooney’s tradition of “Sanctity, Scholarship, and Discipline”.  With the Alumni Spotlight, we will explore and regularly share the diverse accomplishments of our graduates.

Andrew Bushey, CMHS Class of 1998 

Professional Experience & Honors:

Andrew is currently an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in Boardman, Ohio.  In addition to his private practice, Andrew is on faculty at St. Elizabeth’s Health Center and oversees the resident dental clinic on a weekly basis. He also serves on the Board of the Dental Society.

Prior to his career in dentistry, Andrew was selected in the Major League Baseball draft in 2002 and played professional baseball with the Colorado Rockies organization.

Education:

After graduation from CMHS, Andrew attended the University of Notre Dame, where in 2002 he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Finance. In 2008 he earned his dental degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine.  He went on to earn his medical degree from the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in 2011. After medical school, Andrew completed a five year surgical residency.

Mooney Reflection:

While at Mooney, Andrew played football, basketball and baseball.  During his high school athletic career, he and his teammates qualified for regional finals in both baseball and basketball.  Some of Andrew’s greatest memories come from sharing in those accomplishments with his classmates and teammates.

Personal Life & Interests:

Andrew currently resides in Poland, Ohio with this wife and three children. He is an active member of Holy Family Parish. Andrews enjoys golf, coaching his oldest son’s sports teams and time with his family.
