This season marks Coach Fecko's fifth as head coach of the Cardinal
Mooney Cardinals. He was named the fourth coach in the school's
history in 2000, succeeding the legendary Don Bucci.
Last year's squad finished with an 8-3 mark and returned the Cards
to post-season play for the first time since 1990. Coach Fecko was
recognized for the successful season by being named "Northeastern
Ohio Division IV Coach of the Year" and "Coach of the
Year" by the Vindicator. In commenting on the upcoming season,
Coach Fecko noted that while eight defensive started graduated,
seven offensive startes will be returning. He believes that with
hard work the 2004 "Big Red Machine" should be able to
build on the success of last year's squad.
PJ is a 1993 graduate of Cardinal Mooney and played defensive end
and upback for the Cards, earning "All-SVC" honors and
defensive end. He has more than a dozen years of experience in the
Mooney system as a player and coach. Before accepting the head coaching
position, PJ coached upbacks on offense and nearly every defensive
position. Just prior to his selection as the Cards head mentor,
Coach Fecko served as defensive coordinator for the 1999 squad which
led the Steel Valley Conference in every major defensive category--run
defense, pass defense, total defense and fewest points allowed and
reached the state-semifinals.
Coach Fecko is a graduate of YSU and teaches in the social studies
department (view his faculty page click

of Mooney, and are the proud parents of daughters; Lia and Alexa.
