The
number of Hall of Fame inductees who have played center for the
gridiron Cardinals is a true testament to that position’s importance.Add Tony Bond to that list.His role in Cardinal Mooney’s success in the early ‘70's
can’t be diminished.Strong, agile, and intelligent, Tony was a
two-year letter winner.He
was voted Most Valuable Offensive Lineman by his teammates and
was selected All-SVC, All Exponent, and All N.E.O. in 1971 and
1972.All-State honors
were bestowed for his performance during the ‘72 season.Tony was a major contributor to Mooney’s first SVC title
and undefeated season in 1971.
A
starter at Youngstown State University the moment he stepped onto
the field, Tony earned four letters and assisted YSU to its first
NCAA play-off in 1974.
Tony
Bond is an attorney employed as administrator of the Lorain County
Child Enforcement Agency and is a member of the Ohio State Bar
Association Committee on Family Law.Married to the former Diane Phillips, they
live in the Cleveland area.
