Called
the hub of the Mooney offense, Denny Bucci is the only player
in the school's rich history to have been involved in five different
categories in the SVC statistics, either as the leader of or among
the top three. His versatility as the fullback, defensive
end, and punter was instrumental in Mooney's SVC Championship
season in '79. Denny led
the SVC in scoring, was second in rushing, second in punting,
third in punt returns, and second in all-purpose running.
Bucci's
stellar play earned him spots on the 1st Team All-SVC,
1st Team All-Diocese, 1st Team All N.E.O.
and special mention All-State.
He
accepted a full athletic scholarship to Bowling Green State University
where a shoulder injury ended his football career.
Denny
is employed by the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Eastern Great
Lakes. He has been married for 14 years to the former Monica West and has
two children. He lives
