Duke Colaprete
Football - Class of 1963

An article in the Vindicator summed up Duke Colaprete:  "A fellow with quick reflexes, built close to the ground at 5'6", 175 lbs., was a terror for Mooney.  He can ferret out the offense, seems to get there firstest with the mostest, led the team in assists and tackles, topping (John) Horney and (Henry) Hanna."

Duke Colaprete was a starter on the Cardinals "61 and "62 City Series back-to-back championship squads.  A two-way performer, he earned All-City and All-Diocesan 1st Team honors at linebacker in '62 after leading Mooney in tackles.

Duke went to Youngstown State University on a football scholarship and played four years for Dwight Dike Beede.  He returned to Cardinal Mooney to help coach the '71 undefeated SVC Champs and two years later, the '73 State Championship Team.  In addition, Duke was the head coach of the '89 SVC freshmen co-champions.

Duke has a B.S. from YSU and a masters degree in Guidance from Westminster.  He and his wife, the former Kathy Grady, have three children.  Duke currently teaches business courses at Struthers High School and is the golf coach.
