Cardinal Mooney's football team had a great year in 1985, coming
within six points of a state championship. A big contributing factor
is Devlin Culliver who had a breakout year. Devlin starred as a
speedy and powerful tailback who gathered post season awards as
readily as he gathered yards. First team All-SVC, All-NEO, All-State,
and Tom McCan Player of the Year were just a few of Devlin's treasures.
On the defensive side of the ball, he set the single season interception
record. All in all . . . not a bad career . . . let alone a year.
But Devlin didn't stop there. He was selected 1986 MAC Freshman
of the Year. He starred for four years in the defensive backfield
at Ohio University in Athens. After graduation, he returned for
one season to Cardinal Mooney as an assistant football coach. Devlin
got his first head coaching job at Shaw High School in Cleveland
in 1999 and quickly turned the Shaw football program around, winning
Coach of the Year honors in 2001. In three short years, he became
Shaw's fourth All-time winningest coach. In 2003, he became the
head football coach at Warrensville High School.
Devlin is married to the former Brigette Wilson and has two sons.
They reside in Euclid, Ohio.
