Jamie Dunn was groomed by his parents and his older brothers to
be a basketball phenomenon and he certainly didn't disappoint. With
a keen awareness of everything that was happening on the basketball
court, Jamie found the open man, defended relentlessly, rebounded
intelligently, and yes, scored. His junior and senior years be led
the Cardinals in scoring and at graduation was the third leading
scorer of all time. He was a second team All-City pick both his
junior and senior years and was also first team All-Diocesan both
years.
A standout football player as well, Jamie quarterbacked the 1967
team to a City Series championship and earned second team All-City
and first team All-Diocesan honors.
Jamie garnered a full basketball scholarship to Walsh University
where he won four letters and was a three-year starter. Jamie has
compiled quite a remarkable coaching record at Poland High School
where his girls have reached the state finals four times, been regional
champs twice, won three district crowns, and seven straight sectional
titles; he has over 200 career wins. He's been the Vindicator Coach
of the Year three times, MAC Coach of the Year four times, Mahoning
Valley Coaches Coach of the Year five times, Northeast Ohio Coach
of the Year three times, and was selected to coach in the Ohio North-South
All-Star Game.
Jamie has been an educator for 32 years and a lawyer for 17 years.
He is married to the former Yvonne Zidian and has two children.
They live in Poland.
