Of all the records Shannon Dunne has
held or still holds at Cardinal Mooney, she is most proud of being
the first girls’ track athlete to receive a track scholarship.
During her years at Mooney, she held records in the 200 and 400
meter dashes, and the 400, 800 and 1600 meter relays. Two of those
records still stand over twenty years later. Shannon was the first
girls’ track member in Mooney history to make it to the
State finals in a singles event, her favorite race, the 400 meter
dash.
Shannon accepted a track scholarship to Walsh University where
she still holds records in the outdoor 400 meter relay, the 1600
meter, the sprint medley relay, and the indoor 400 meter dash.
Her record in the outdoor 400 meter was eclipsed only a few years
ago.
Working as an Intensive Care nurse since 1986, Shannon also teaches
pediatric Critical Care classes. She founded The Dunne School
of Irish Dance, and is currently training to be a Certified Nurse
Midwife. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Greg Gamble.
They and their three children live in Pebble Beach, California.
