Pandora
Fecko has few rivals for the title of top female athlete in the
history of Cardinal Mooney High School.
Pandora,
in softball, was All SVC and led the league in hitting. On the links, she helped her team to qualify
three times for the state tournament.
As a junior and senior, she was the SVC medalist and finished
second and fifth respectively for individual honors at the state
tourney.
Achievements
in those two sports alone would herald her induction, but it is
in basketball that Pandora really dominates the record books. She helped her team win the first district title in girls' basketball.
She is the all-time leading scorer (male or female) in
Mooney history. In the
girls' basketball record book, she is still at the top in points
all-time, points in a season, field goals all-time, free throws
all-time, free throws in a season, and free throws in a game.
Pandora
went on to play on the first women's golf team at the University
of Notre Dame. She still
holds the fourth lowest all-time round in N.D. women's history.
She won three letters and was co-captain her senior year. Pandora's golf career continued, highlighted
by being the low amateur in the '92 Phar-Mor Classic and performing
on the LPGA Futures Professional Tour from '92-'94.
Pandora,
who has a B.A. from Notre Dame and an M.S. from YSU, is currently
working on her Ph.D. in education while employed as an educator
at Canfield High School.
