Bill Finn was a fierce competitor,
unwilling to yield to any opponent. While he earned his fame in
football, Bill also lettered in basketball and track.
While he didn't have blinding speed
or outstanding quickness, Bill's special talent was his ability
to run exceptional pass routes and, all importantly, to "get
open" in critical situations and make the catch.
Leader and co-captain of Mooney's first undefeated football team
(1971), Bill Finn was an All-SVC performer at end in both his
junior and senior years. In 1971, he garnered All-Diocese, All
NEO, and All-State honors. As a senior, he played in the Ohio
North-South All-Star game and the inaugural Big 33 Ohio-PA All-Star
game.
Bill's accomplishments earned him a
football scholarship to the University of Kentucky where he played
for the Wildcats for four years, graduating in 1976.
Bill married the former Sandra Zappi
(Mooney '72) and has four children. He is currently the Chicago
District Sales Manager for the Harry Miller Corporation.
