Greg Finnerty was a mainstay on the
Cardinal Mooney starting five from midway through his sophomore
year, ending up the eighth leading scorer in school history. Greg’s
consistent outside scoring ability and fine all -around floor
game helped decide numerous close games. Co-captain Finnerty,
as a senior, led the team in scoring, steals, free throw percentage,
and assists. Greg was honored with a first team All-SVC berth.
Additionally, as a junior, Greg was a prime factor in Mooney’s
AAA District Championship and the school’s first SVC basketball
crown. Greg earned a total of eight varsity letters at Mooney-three
in basketball, four in tennis, and another in football. Greg chose
to attend Allegheny College where he helped to win two conference
basketball championships which led to automatic bids to the NCAA
Division III playoffs and three conference tennis championships.
During that run, Greg won three singles’ and three doubles’ championships,
winning more matches than anyone in Allegheny’s history. Greg
earned his law degree at Capital University in Columbus. He has
served as an assistant attorney general for the state of Ohio
and legislative counsel for the Ohio State Bar Association. In
2000, Greg established his own law office and maintains a separate
political/business consulting firm.
