Jim is best known for his leadership
and scoring ability when taking Mooney's 1973 basketball team
to the school's first State Regional Final. Known as a "money"
player, Jim won or sent into overtime seven games during the 1972
and 1973 seasons; he scored Mooney's clinching points from the
foul line in the District title game in 1973
against Boardman.
Jim was a three-year letterman and
Mooney's leading scorer in 1972 and 1973. At the time of his graduation,
Jim was the fourth all-time leading scorer, and held the single
season scoring record as a senior. Also, in his senior year, Jim
was named All-Steel Valley, All-Diocesan, All-Tournament in both
the district and regional, and Honorable Mention All-Northeastern
Ohio.
Jim attended the Ohio State University.
He married the former Betsy Reid and is currently the Radio Advertising
Account Manager at WKBN Broadcasting Company.
