Jim Finnerty
Basketball - Class of 1973

Jim is best known for his leadership and scoring ability when taking Mooney's 1973 basketball team to the school's first State Regional Final. Known as a "money" player, Jim won or sent into overtime seven games during the 1972 and 1973 seasons; he scored Mooney's clinching points from the foul line in the District title game in 1973 against Boardman.

Jim was a three-year letterman and Mooney's leading scorer in 1972 and 1973. At the time of his graduation, Jim was the fourth all-time leading scorer, and held the single season scoring record as a senior. Also, in his senior year, Jim was named All-Steel Valley, All-Diocesan, All-Tournament in both the district and regional, and Honorable Mention All-Northeastern Ohio.

Jim attended the Ohio State University. He married the former Betsy Reid and is currently the Radio Advertising Account Manager at WKBN Broadcasting Company.
