Nick Gordon, M.D. Significant Contributions - 1960-1976
There is not a Mooney athlete whose life
was not touched by Doc Gordon during his tenure. Team Physician
doesn't nearly cover the range of services that he performed. His
involvement in Mooney athletics transcended the traditional doctor/patient
relationship. He was a mentor, an advocate, and most of all, a friend
to all those who needed his considerable skills. Doctor Gordon was
the valedictorian at Minerva High School, attended Mount Union College
on a scholastic and athletic scholarship, and graduated second in
his class from Marquette University School of Medicine. Since 1981,
he has been the Director of Student Health Services at Georgia Tech
and has been the Team Physician for all sports including Georgia
Tech's 1990 National Football Champions. He is also a contributing
author of two chapters in the textbook Athletic Training and Sports
Medicine, published by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
His commitment, loyalty, and enthusiasm are at the very foundation
of Cardinal Mooney's athletic success.
