By the time Fred graduated, he held nearly
every Mooney scoring and field goal percentage record. A two-year
varsity letter winner, Fred was selected All- City in 1964 and
his teammates elected him captain in 1963. Holden earned a basketball
scholarship to Louisville University where he went on to star
on the hardwood. Fred started three years at guard while Lousiville
was ranked in the top ten of the nation. He averaged 13 points
per game for his collegiate career. Currently, Fred is a high
school teacher and Head Basketball and Boy’s Tennis Coach at
DuPont Manual High School in Louisville, Kentucky. He has been
named “Basketball Coach of the Year” three times. He is married
to Mary Bridget Carrigan and has three children.
