Kathy Keffler was the consummate team player who made every one
of her teammates better while starring on the court. She earned
four varsity letters in basketball during an era when the team's
record was 61-19 with two SVC championships. She was twice selected
All-SVC and twice All-Diocese. In Kathy's senior years, she was
ranked fifth in scoring, first in rebound average, first in free
throw percentage, and fifth in field goal percentage in the SVC.
She averaged 16 points per game and was the team captain.
At the time of her graduation, she ranked third all-time in scoring
and had the third best scoring season. Kathy still ranks eighth
for all-time rebounds in a season on Cardinal Mooney's list.
But having fun while competing was her hallmark. At the University
of Cincinnati, she played intramural basketball and was an assistant
coach at a local high school. Kathy has had an active role in starting
a women's over 30 basketball league in Sylvania, Ohio. She participates
in a summer softball league and in her spare time (spring and fall)
plays in a women's over 30 soccer league.
Kathy has been a registered nurse for 18 years in a Post Anesthesia
Care Unit (Recovery Room) and Emergency Department. Residing in
Sylvania, Ohio, Kathy is married to Jeff Apple and they have two
children.
