The contributions of some people can’t
be measured in wins and losses. Game statistics, letters and awards
pale in comparison to a man’s character. Ted Lolakis touched the
lives of hundreds of young in the eleven years that he taught
and coached at Cardinal Mooney. Ted joined the Mooney faculty
in 1968. He was an assistant football and basketball coach. As
the Offensive Coordinator in football, he developed blocking schemes
for each opponent, many of which are still used today. Ted was
responsible for offensive and defensive tackles and his work in
the press box on game night was directly responsible for Mooney
victories. But, Ted’s lasting worth was his influence on those
he counselled. Tough but fair and admired by all, Ted lived the
truth. His rapport with his players keeps his spirit alive even
today. Ted and his wife Ronnie were the parents of two children,
Nicole and Kim. Ted passed away in January 1979.
