One of the finest linebackers to ever
perform at Cardinal Mooney, Mark Malie was the backbone of the
defense on the Cardinal’s first State Championship team in 1973.
A three-year starter, he was an All-Steel Valley selection at
linebacker in both his junior and senior seasons. Mark also starred
on offense as a bruising fullback, but his contributions on defense
made him the unforgettable player that he was. Despite his modest
height, Mark parlayed flawless technique, an indominable will
and intense aggressiveness into Mooney’s “force in the middle”.
Mark disdained college football to join his family’s masonry business
where he is currently a partner.
