Vince Marrow
Basketball/Football - Class of 1987

Arguably, the best male athlete ever to perform at Cardinal Mooney is Vince Marrow.  How else do you explain the prowess of someone who earned a Division I college basketball scholarship, changed sports and colleges at mid-stream, and became a professional football player?

Vince starred in both sports while at Mooney.  His basketball resume includes 1st Team All-SVC for three straight years, 1st Team All-State twice, All-N.E.O. 1st Team three times, All-Diocese 1st Team three times, NEO 1st Team and Player of the Year in '87.  Vince still holds the CMHS boys' basketball records for most points in a career, most points in a season, and most rebounds for a career.  In football, Vince dominated play offensively, defensively, and on special teams.  He was All-SVC 1st Team in '86.

Vince accepted a basketball scholarship from the University of Akron but later switched to Toledo University and football.  His size, speed, and agility made him a prototypical tight end.  He made All MAC and was drafted by the Buffalo Bills.  He later played for the Carolina Panthers and the New York Jets.  Vince tried the NFL Europe league and was voted All-Pro 2nd Team in 1997.  He signed with the Chicago Bears in 1998.

He now teaches at New Albany Middle School and coaches football in Gahanna while working on his master's degree at Capital University.  He spent the past summer at Ohio State working with the tight ends for Coach Tressel.  Vince runs his own business training young athletes in Gahanna.  He is engaged to Dr. Monique Joseph.
