Ed Muransky
Footbal - Class of 1978

Affectionately known as "Big Ed" by family and teammates, Ed Muransky was one of the finest interior linemen produced by Cardinal Mooney High School. He was a three-year letterman and two-year starter. An offensive tackle on our 1976 State Semifinalist team, he earned All-Steel Valley, All -NEO, and All-State honors as a senior. Also, in his senior year, he was selected as the winner of the prestigious Mack Truck Award, an award given annually to the most outstanding high school lineman in the area.

Highly recruited by numerous "blue chip" schools, Ed opted to play collegiate football at the University of Michigan. He lettered for three years at Michigan and earned All-Big Ten honors in 1980 and 1981. He played against Washington in the 1981 Rose Bowl, won by Michigan 23-6. Ed was named to the Associated Press, U.P.I., and Sporting News All-American teams in 1981 and also garnered "Academic All-American" his senior year.

Ed was selected 82nd by the Oakland Raiders in the 1982 NFL draft and was a member of their 1983 Super Bowl Championship team.

Ed is the present chairman of Gallagher Pipino, Inc. . He is married to the former Christine Pipino and has three children.
