Mark "Bo" Pelini Basketball/Football - Class of 1986
Two sport athletics don’t come any
better than Mark “Bo” Pelini. Not only was Bo a three-year starter
in both football and basketball, but no other Mooney player has
appeared in Ohio’s North-South All-Star games in both football
and basketball as Pelini did. He was a safety and quarterback
who earned All-Svc and All-State honors as a senior. On the hardwood,
Bo was twice selected All-SVC and was All-NEO as a senior. He
was Mooney’s first 1000 point scorer. A three-year starter at
free safety for the Ohio State University, Bo was also a three-year
selection on the Academic All-BigTen. A four-year letterman and
senior co-captain, he won many accolades including the Bo Rein
Award as the “Most Inspirational Senior,” the Jack Stephenson
Award as the “Top Student Athletic” in business school, and the
Arnie Chonko Award as OSU’s top defensive back. After coaching
for the San Francisco Forty-Niners, Bo became assistant coach
with the Green Bay Packers. He is married to the former Mary Pat
Leetch and they have two children- Patrick (3) and Katherine (nearly
1).
