Vince Pelini
Basketball - Class of 1978

Vince Pelini’s athleticism allowed him to play several key sports during his stellar Cardinal Mooney career. He collected 6 varsity letters- 3 in basketball, 2 in football, and 1 in tennis. In basketball, he was All-Steel Valley, All diocesan, All NEO and All Ohio honorable mention in 1978. His scoring and leadership on the hardwood will be paramount when discussing his many winning performances. Vince moved on to Columbia University, where he lettered in football for 3 years. He was All Ivy League in ‘80 and ‘81. He earned All-East and honorable mention All-American honors in 1981. Pelini was the Ivy League’s Defensive Player of the Year and won the David W. Smythe trophy as Columbia’s Most Valuable Player in 1981. Vince is currently the President of Green River Steel Company in Owensboro, Kentucky. He is married to the former Diane Sosnowski and they have 4 children, Michelle, Sarah, Mark and Christine.
