Phil Scandy was the first Mooney tennis
“super-star”. He won all conference honors for each of the four
years that he played for the Cards. He was named to a second place
All-SVC berth as a freshman and to first unit each of his remaining
years at Mooney. In 80 matches over four years, he posted 68 wins
and was undefeated during his senior campaign. His skill and leadership
turned a moribund program into a dynamic and respected athletic
powerhouse. After graduation, Phil played tennis from 1978 to
1981 for Bowling Green State University. In 1981 he turned professional
and currently instructs at Hanover College. He is also a 7th grade
Mathematics teacher in Cincinnati and part-time dealer at the
Grand Victoria Casino. Phil has a 16 year old daughter, Leah.
