As
we take pride in our proud Cardinal Mooney heritage, we owe a
special debt of gratitude to individuals like Tom Skowron.
They are the ones who were responsible for laying the foundation
for all those who followed.
Tom
was a three-sport star in Cardinal Mooney's first years. But it was on the gridiron that he made his
mark. A three-year starter,
Tom was elected captain and selected All-City at end in 1960. He was chosen to compete in the Ohio All-Star game and made honorable
mention All-State.
Tom
went on to the University of Dayton where he continued his football
career. Not only was he
a three-year starter, he was a two-way performer in both 1963
and 1964.
Tom,
who graduated from Dayton with a B.S. in Education, went on to
teach and coach. He is
currently teaching special education to third and fourth graders
in Dayton, working with those students with behavior problems
who cannot adjust to a regular school environment.
Tom
married his wife, Kathy, in 1964.
Their three children, all graduates of Ohio State University,
have presented them with seven grandchildren.
