Ray Sovik was a leader and medalist
on the Cardinal’s legendary golf teams of the ‘60’s. Sovik won
3 varsity letters and numerous junior tournaments. His golfing
career advanced at Ohio State University where he lettered 3 times
and was the teams captain in both his junior and senior years.
Ray was 2 time All Big Ten selection. After graduation, Ray joined
the professional ranks and played on the P.G.A. tour in ‘77 and
‘78 and afterward played on the Professional Mini-Tour. Ray was
reinstated as an amateur in 1982. Since then he has won scores
of tournaments including: 7 time local U.S. Open Qualifier, the
Columbus District Mid-Amateur Championship, 3 time Mid-Ohio Golfer
Player of the Year, 10 time Club Champion at the Country Club
at Murfield Village, and every year since 1982, has been a participant
in the Ohio State Amateur Championship. Ray is an Account Manager
for the Diebold Corporation and lives in Dublin, Ohio. He and
his wife Cindy have a son, Brent.
