One of the only
four-year letter winners in Cardinal Mooney's rich golf history,
Gregg started every match during his four-year career and averaged
in the 30's for three of those years. An All-Steel Valley selection
in 1972 and 1973, he took first place honors in the 1971 Insurance
Youth Classic and the 1973 Mahoning Valley Scholastic Invitational.
He was a semi-finalist in the 1973 Mid-American Open, a national
match play championship with a field of over 400 of the country's
finest young golfers.
Gregg went on to play four years of
varsity golf at the University of Notre Dame. A graduate of Notre
Dame's School of Architecture, Gregg is now Vice-President of
Hanahan & Strollo Architects in Youngstown. He has continued
his amateur golf prowess earning many individual and team awards
including individual medal championship in the City "Y"
League for four years, winner of both the Mooney and Ursuline
opens, champion of the Mill Creek Two-Man Best Ball and the winner
of Club Championship at the Youngstown Country Club.
