Described by Coach Jerry Kuzma as the
best rebounder he had seen in Northeastern Ohio in 1967, a comment
echoed by Salem coaching legend John Cabas, Ken Tabaka literally
wrote the record book at Cardinal Mooney.
His single season mark of 373 rebounds
and single game record of 29 rebounds while scoring 29 points
(against Wilson) are still records today. He shot a phenomenal
58.6 % clip while averaging nearly twenty rebounds per game during
his senior campaign earning him the attention of over sixty college
recruiters.
Selected to the 1967 All-City and All-Diocesan teams, Ken parlayed
his classroom achievements and athletic skills into a full scholarship
to St. Francis College of Pennsylvania. He played for four years
at St. Francis while earning a degree in Business Management.
Tabaka is currently a sales representative
for Brooks Beverage Management Company. He and his wife Deborah
have been married for six years.
