May Scholarships

 Miami University is once again presenting the 2010 Bridges program.    Bridges is an all expense paid (housing and meals), selective overnight visit program for academically ambitious high school seniors (class of 2011). Students who successfully complete the  Bridges program and apply for admission to Miami for fall 2011 will receive a $50 admission application fee waiver.
Successful participants will also receive a $2500 four year renewable scholarship if they are accepted and enroll at Miami University Oxford campus for Fall 2011. Application criteria includes:

High school student graduating in 2011

Minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale or the top 25% of graduating class

College prep curriculum

Demonstrated leadership/co-curricular involvement

Students from underrepresented populations or students who have a commitment to promoting a deeper understanding of and appreciation for cultural diversity.

April Scholarships

Wendy’s High School Heisman Award honors both male and female high school students who excel in academic, athletics and student leadership. Men and women entering their senior year of high school in the 2010 -2011 academic year who have at least a B grade average and participate in at least one school sponsored sport should apply. Junior Civic League is preparing for its Cinderella Ball.  Senior girls interested in participating, stop in the guidance office for an application.

Youngstown Rotary Club Scholarship for senior students planning to attend YSU.   GPA,  ACT scores, and activities are a priority.   Stop in the guidance office for an application.

Kuczek Foundation Scholarship  Seniors residing in Boardman will write an essay and have an interview. $1000.00 available.   Stop in the guidance office for an application.

Junior Civic League Scholarship Program is offering a scholarship for Seniors of African American origin. with a 2.5 GPA. Stop in the guidance office for an application.

St. Paul School of Salem is offering a scholarship to a senior who attended St. Paul elementary school and has a 2.0 GPA. Stop in the guidance office for an application

The Good Year Tire and Rubber Company is hosting the Engineering Career Day for Young Women on Saturday April, 17th, 2010. To register go to www.goodyear.com/careerday by March 26th to attend. This affair is for girl’s grades 6-12. There is also a scholarship for senior girls, stop in the guidance office for a copy.

Mahoning Valley Italian American Sports Hall of Fame is awarding scholarships to students based on peer involvement, volunteering and income. For an application, come to the guidance office.

Edward DeBartolo Memorial Scholarship is available. Criteria include work schedule, volunteer, activities, income.  For an application, come to the guidance office.

Girard Herb Society and Brubaker Family are offering a scholarship for a student who is planning into major in Horticulture, Agriculture or Environmental Science. For an application, come to the guidance office.

January Scholarships

Kiwanis Club of Youngstown is awarding $500 scholarships to graduating seniors who have excelled in the areas of academics and community service. For an application stop in the guidance office. The deadline for applications is March 31, 2010.

Richard Naples Education Foundation is coffering scholarships for seniors. Stop in the guidance office for a copy. Based on income, activities. Need two letters of recommendation. Deadline March 31, 2010.

National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is offering two $2000 scholarships for students intending to pursue a career in television related fields. Students will fill out an online application which is available le on the website: nataslgl.org. Once you’ve entered the website, mouse over the “Students” tab at the top right of the page, and then select “Scholarships” from the drop down menu. You may then fill out the online application. Application must be completed by March 12, 2010.

The William D. Squires Educational Foundation is offering 12 scholarships. $3000 per calendar year. The deadline is April 5. 2010. Eligibility Requirements are financial aid.  University Honors Program at Youngstown State University requires you have a composite of 26 ACT or 1760 ?SAT and be and the top 15% of your class. To apply students can complete an application available online at www.ysu.edu/honors

Leslie H. Cochran University Scholars Program at YSU is a full cost scholarship offered at YSU which covers bulk rate tuition, fees and housing for four years . Must have a 28 ACT or 1860 SAT and be in the top 15% of class. Go to www.ysu.edu/honors and apply.

KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program is a scholarship if you have a 2.75 GPA or higher. Go to www.kfcscholars.org and apply from December 1,2009 through Feb. 10th. 

Gates Millennium Scholars Program  Minority Scholarship for seniors who have a 3.3 GPA, go to www.gmsp.org for apply

US Bank Internet Scholarship for seniors in a random drawing. Apply online at usbank.com/studentloans

Burger King Scholarship  for seniors with a 2.5 GPA. Works part-time for a minimum of 10 hours per week (does not have to be Burger King) , be actively involved in community service activities, financial need.

September Scholarships

Seven Seventeen is offering eight $1500 scholarships to members and children of members. If you are planning to attend YSU, Akron, or Kent state University you may qualify for this scholarship. Go to www.sscu.net. Even if you are not sure, apply for the scholarship. You can always refuse later.

Burger King is offering a scholarship for seniors who maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher, work a part time job for a minimum of 10 hours per week or 40 weeks per year.
