| With a Master of Arts in English
from Purdue University, Miss Eileen Bacha taught at Purdue University
and joined the CMHS faculty in 1969. She is the English Department
Chairperson.
In addition to teaching all levels over the years, she has coached
speech and girls' tennis, advised the Future Teachers of America
and the Beakon, and for many years was business manager for the
drama productions.
Known for her love of words and Irish music and for her passion
for reading, she also enjoys riding her hunter or wandering in the
wilderness. She has done summer and winter wilderness/mountaineering
courses at the Wyoming National Outdoor Leadership School and at
Colorado Outward Bound. She has backpacked and climbed in Wyoming,
Montana, Oregon, Washington, Utah, California, Colorado, and Ireland.
For eight summers, she was a high country wilderness ranger in the
Wasatch-Cache National Forest in Mountain View, WY. More recently,
she has hiked and kayaked in Alaska, sketched Anasazi, and rafted
the Yampa and Green Rivers in Dinosour National Monument, Ut. For
the past few summers, she has been working with a National Park
Service archaeologist mappings pre-Pueblo sites, recording ceramics,
lithics, ornaments, and ground stones, and drilling wood cores in
Navajo Springs, AZ, Natural Bridges, UT, and Chaco Canyon, Aztec
Ruins, and Salmons Ruins, all in New Mexico.
Miss Bacha teaches Honors English 9 and 11 classes, Search Strategies,
and Verbal Test Preparation in room 207.
