Cardinal Mooney High School will hosted a community blood drive on February 24, organized by Biomedical Program instructor Miss Policy and students in the school’s biomed program. The event aims to support local hospitals while giving students the opportunity to apply what they learn in class to a real-world healthcare setting. Throughout the day, students, staff, and community members had the chance to donate blood and help address ongoing shortages. Biomed students assisted with organization, check-in, and education efforts, helping donors understand the importance of blood donation and its impact on saving lives.
Miss Policy emphasized the importance of student involvement saying, “This blood drive allows students to see firsthand how healthcare extends beyond the classroom and into serving others.” Many students are also excited to contribute to a meaningful cause. Senior Biomed student Frankie Cassese shared, “It feels good knowing that something we’re helping run at school could truly make a difference for someone in need.” The organizers hope the event encourages first-time donors and strengthens Cardinal Mooney’s tradition of service within the community.
