Thanksgiving Food Drive is here!
It is that time of the year and the Thanksgiving Food Drive is back in full swing. Homerooms will be collecting food to give to families in need this Thanksgiving. Campus Minister, Beth Jones, was excited for this year’s food drive saying, “I am hopeful that all homerooms will buy in knowing that these food items are going directly to help families that are in and around Cardinal Mooney.”
As usual, there will be a competition associated with this food drive. Homerooms will be paired to bring in items but also compete against each other to bring items. Mrs. Jones continued on to say, “All homerooms who meet their goal will get a free dress down day right before Thanksgiving break. And the homeroom that brings in the most, will also get a special treat on the day before Thanksgiving break.” In this food drive and competition, homerooms have to meet a quota of 20 items to get the dress down and get more than other homerooms to get the extra treat.
This extra reward has already gotten some homerooms in a competitive mood for the drive. The winner of the Change Wars, Jenn Policy, has already set her sights on the gold for this drive saying, “I asked the students and they said they want to win.” Ms. Policy has already claimed she is not worried about competition. However, Mrs. Popichak has plans on taking the win. “my homeroom got 2nd on the Change Wars, so I think they love a competition, and I think this time we’re looking to win.” Said Mrs. Popichak. She went on to say, “We’ve lost to Ms. Policy in the Change Wars. We lost to Mr. Bowen last year. We’re tired of being second place.”
However, they are not the only teachers hunting for 1st place. The 3rd place homeroom, Samantha Rulong, has also claimed her class would aim for 1st as well. “I think we’re gonna try to go past everybody. Not just the amount needed.” Said Ms. Rulong. The homerooms will have until Friday, Nov. 21 to bring in the most items and rewards will be given on Tuesday, Nov. 25, right before Thanksgiving break. The change Wars had Ms. Policy, Mrs. Popichak, Ms. Rulong fighting for the win, but only time will tell if Ms. Policy will take another win or if another homeroom can take her down this time.
