Dante Turner Spotlight

The Cardinal Mooney Boys basketball team fell short in their expectations last season. Senior Captain Dante Turner is working to bring back the success within the basketball program. After a down year last year Turner is trying to bring back the winning culture Mooney is known for.

Dante Turner, a standout guard and leader on the team quoted “Last year was definitely not what we wanted, and it was unfortunate, but there’s no excuse,” Turner said. “We’re looking to get back to what our standard here at Mooney is.” Being the team captain he embraces his role of being a mentor and leader on and off the court.

That leadership goes beyond the court, as Turner has made it a point to connect with younger players on the team. “I have a lot of younger guys looking up to me. I want to be able to help just like the people that were older than me helped me,” he said. Dante wants to help the future of the program by mentoring the younger guys on the team.

“The biggest motivation is realizing these next couple months are probably the last time I’ll play competitive basketball. I want to have the feeling of winning and leaving a legacy at this school,” he said. With Dantes last year playing high school basketball he wants to finish his career helping the future of the program and restoring the winning culture.
