While sports teams and major school events often take center stage, many student clubs quietly work behind the scenes to build community, develop leadership skills, and create opportunities for students with unique interests. Despite their impact, some clubs at our school remain largely unnoticed.

These lesser-known clubs provide students with chances to explore passions, make friendships, and grow outside of the classroom. From academic groups to service organizations, club members say their experiences are meaningful, even if their club does not always receive recognition.

One example is Ora et Labora, which focuses on serving others and growing in your faith. According to Miss Dulik, the club offers students a welcoming environment. ¨Students should join because it is very fun and important in the message of our school and faith,” she said.

Many students are unaware of how much these clubs contribute to school life. Members often organize events, volunteer in the community, or help classmates academically. ¨Every fall, we do a donation drive for survivors of domestic violence and have students participate in mass,¨ said Miss Dulik.

Another overlooked club is the Book Club, where students gather to share their love of reading and explore new perspectives through literature. Whether discussing novels, recommending favorite authors, or simply meeting to connect over shared interests, members say the club creates a strong sense of belonging. ¨The Book Club gives us a space to talk openly about stories and ideas, and it is a great way to meet people who enjoy reading as much as I do,¨ shared Nakiea Boykin.

Students involved in smaller clubs say one of their biggest challenges is recruiting new members. Busy schedules and limited awareness often prevent students from discovering opportunities that might match their interests.

School leaders encourage students to explore different clubs as a way to build confidence and meet new people. Joining a small club can allow students to take leadership roles and make a direct impact on the school community.

Although they may not always receive the spotlight, these clubs continue to shape student experiences in meaningful ways. By supporting these clubs my students can help to ensure that every interest and talent has a place to grow on campus.
