Last week, Cardinal Mooney’s Student Council took part in the second session of a two-part leadership program in partnership with the Effective Leadership Academy (ELA) from the Cleveland area. The first session was held in August as student leaders geared up for an exciting and successful school year ahead.
In this second workshop, students explored the importance of setting SMART goals—specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely—and were challenged to apply these principles to future initiatives. The session also featured interactive activities that highlighted communication, adaptability, following directions, and appreciating different perspectives.
Sophomore representative Mia Williams shared that the meeting helped students learn how to set meaningful, real-life goals in a short amount of time—skills that will be valuable when planning events and future projects.
Student Body President and senior Abby Markey reflected on gaining new ways to approach challenges, noting that while distractions can pull teams away from their goals, collaboration and teamwork make problem-solving possible.
We look forward to welcoming back ELA next year!
Many thanks you to our Student Council Advisors, Miss Cunningham & Mr. Tofil!
