You can support Cardinal Mooney High School through the Ohio Scholarship Tax Credit Program. Ohioans can now receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit of up to $750 for donations to the Good Samaritan Scholarship Fund. If you are filing a joint return and both you and your spouse make eligible donations, each of you can claim this credit (up to $1,500.)

Your support directly impacts a family’s ability to afford a Cardinal Mooney education and the opportunity for more children to receive a high-quality Catholic education. Your support can be directed to any Catholic school in the Diocese of Youngstown and allows you to choose what your tax dollars support.

To designate your 2023 personal Ohio tax liability to the Good Samaritan Scholarship Fund:

1. Estimate your 2023 Ohio tax liability. The scholarship is capped at the lesser of: your Ohio state tax liability, OR $750 per taxpayer ($1,500 for married filing jointly.)

2. Make your donation online at Good Samaritan Scholarship Fund or go to the Diocese of Youngstown’s website for more information and a form to download for mail-in.

3. Claim your scholarship tax credit when you file your 2023 State of Ohio income tax return. (Credit may be claimed up to April 15, 2024. Submit your tax receipt.)

This does not constitute income tax advice. Always consult your tax professional for information on the impact of any charitable donation.
