I thoroughly enjoyed Ghostbusters: Afterlife. The way the character of Egon was written after the death of actor Harold Ramis tied the film together. His computer-generated design was handled artistically and with great care.

The writers and filmmakers were able to kill Egon off in a way consistent with the character. This was appreciated by many critics, and much of the fanbase as well.

So when it was announced that there would be a sequel to Afterlife, I had high expectations for it.

Thankfully those expectations were met.

What I like the most about the movie is how it introduces new ghosts while still bringing back ones that the early Ghostbuster fans will recognize, like Slimer, the library ghost lady from the very first ever Ghostbuster movie, and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.

I also loved the detail that Slimer’s mouth is a lot like the original, keeping the puppet-like movement to it.

The whole gimmick with the Stay Puft ghosts hurting and “killing” each other in various ways always made me laugh. The little language they speak – even if I can’t understand a single thing they say – amused me.

My one negative opinion about the movie is that the villain was defeated far too easily.

Don’t get me wrong I love a nice happy ending but they put so much emphasis on how horrible and evil this villain was gonna be.

Then when he showed up he froze the main cast and not even five minutes later he’s getting defeated by one single lit match that gets transformed into a fireball by a guy who has pyrokinesis the ghostbusters met and who gave them the globe that the villain was trapped in.

Other than that the movie was great. I highly doubt that they’ll make another movie considering how old the original Ghostbuster cast is but I wouldn’t be opposed to another one with the new cast.
