HOWLAND — On Tuesday, the Cardinals walked into Howland High School and notched their first road victory of the season. Cardinal Mooney handled Howland 49-38 behind 14 points from senior Eddie Nieves, and nine points each from Jibri Carter and Ashton O’Brien.

After trailing by a point heading into halftime, the Cardinals sprinted ahead with a 21-point effort in the third quarter after only having 12 in the first half. Backed by their consistently tough defense, they proved when the shots start to fall they are a dangerous matchup for anyone. This win was the fourth straight against Howland meaning the class of 24 has never lost to the Tigers. It also puts Mooney back at .500 on the year.

The Cards look to carry this momentum into Canfield on Friday and then into a big rivalry game against Boardman on Dec. 19.
