For Andrew Philibin ’20, a love of technology and an entrepreneurial spirit took root at Cardinal Mooney and blossomed into a promising career in software development. Now, just a few years after graduation, Philibin is making waves in the tech world as the founder of Loading Technologies, LLC—a software development company he launched in November 2024. His first major project? WatchList: The Movie App, a mobile application that has already begun changing the way people discover and organize the movies they love.
Launched in January 2025, WatchList is designed to solve a common problem: not knowing what movie to watch. With a unique, Tinder-like swiping system and a personalized recommendation feed, the app makes it easier for users to discover films suited to their tastes. It also serves as a personal movie tracker, allowing users to rate films they’ve seen, compile a WatchList of those they want to see, and even compare lists with friends.
Philibin wears many hats as the sole developer and founder of Loading Technologies. From coding to business operations, every aspect of the company is driven by his vision and expertise—a skillset he traces back to his days at Mooney.
“My first coding classes were taught by Mrs. (Janet) Cadman,” Philibin said. “She also introduced me to entrepreneurship in one of her classes—I can’t remember the name, but I do remember watching Shark Tank and learning how to think like a business owner.” His time in Mr. Butler’s art classes also left a lasting impression, shaping his appreciation for design—a critical element in crafting WatchList’s seamless user experience.
As he looks to the future, Philibin remains focused on enhancing WatchList: The Movie App with new features and improvements while also laying the foundation for more innovative projects under the Loading Technologies banner. His journey is a testament to the enduring impact of a Mooney education—where lessons in creativity, business, and problem-solving continue to inspire alumni long after they leave the classroom.
