Streaming services have completely changed how people watch movies and TV. Instead of waiting for shows to come on at a certain time, people can now watch whatever they want, whenever they want. Platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ make it really easy to just press play and start watching, whether you’re at home or on your phone.
One of the biggest changes is binge-watching. People don’t just watch one episode a week anymore, they’ll watch multiple episodes or even a whole season in one sitting. Because of this, shows are made to keep people hooked so they keep watching. It’s also changed how people talk about TV. Instead of everyone watching at the same time, people watch at different times and share their thoughts online.
Streaming has also made a huge variety of content available. There are so many different genres, shows from other countries, and new creators getting attention. At the same time, having so many choices can make it hard to decide what to watch. On top of that, while streaming is usually cheaper than cable, having multiple subscriptions can start to add up.
“Honestly, I watch everything on streaming now. It’s just easier because I can watch whenever I have time, like after school or before bed. There’s so many options, which I like, but sometimes it’s hard to choose what to watch.” Madison Moore, a junior at Cardinal Mooney High School, says streaming fits better into her schedule and daily life.
Overall, streaming services have made watching TV more flexible and more personal. Even though it has some downsides, it’s clear that streaming is now the main way people watch movies and shows.
