YOUNGSTOWN — With a 5-4 victory over Akon St. Vincent/St. Mary on Wednesday, our women’s lacrosse team has amassed 15 wins, the most in school history, and advanced to the Division II regional quarterfinal round for the first time.

The game was played at Farmer’s Bank Field on the campus of Youngstown State University due to the installation of the new track and field at Cardinal Mooney.

Ella Szalay had two goals and four draw controls in the victory over the Fighting Irish. Frankie Cassese had two goals including the game-winner. Angelee Blasko had a goal and an assist. Kendell Scriber led the defense with five ground balls and three caused turnovers. Alyssa Ray had eight saves in goal. We will now play Chagrin Falls in the regional quarterfinals at Chagrin Falls at 5 p.m. on Friday.
