By: Natalie Blasko and Sophia Rotunno
Cardinal Mooney High School will host its Cardinal Cornhole Tournament on Saturday, May 16, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the school. The event, organized by the Cardinal Mooney Booster Club, will raise support for student athletics and school programs while bringing together students, families, alumni, and community members for an afternoon of fun.
According to the event announcement, teams of two can register for $100, while general admission is $25. Cash prizes will be awarded to top teams, and guests can also enjoy food, drinks, and additional games of chance during the tournament. Lariccia’s Food Truck will also be on site to provide food for attendees.
School leaders say the event is a great way to build school spirit while supporting student-athletes. “This tournament is about more than competition,” said Assistant Athletic Director Toni Chahinet. “It gives our community a chance to come together, support our programs, and celebrate what makes Cardinal Mooney special.”
Students are also looking forward to the event. Senior lacrosse player Alexis Italiano said the fundraiser is an exciting opportunity for athletes and supporters alike. “Events like this help our teams and bring everyone together,” Italiano said. “It’s nice to see the community show up for the students and have fun at the same time.”
Several sponsorship opportunities are also available for businesses and supporters, ranging from scoreboard sponsors to event sponsors. Organizers hope the tournament will become a popular annual tradition for the school.
