Youngstown, OH February 4, 2026 – As the 2025 26 NFL playoffs continued, students shared their opinions on how teams looked in their matchups and what they expected to see once the games were played.

The playoffs have been intense so far, with defense and experience making a big difference as teams try to keep their seasons alive.

Kaden Reese said the Texans’ defense has been the main reason for their playoff success. “Our defense is very good, and it’s going to be very tough for teams to score, even field goals,” Reese said. Going into the game against the Patriots in New England, Reese knew it would not be easy. “It’s going to be a tough game, but I think we come out with a dub because our defense won’t give up many points.”

Carson Gross thought the Rams did not look their best early in the playoffs. “It was an ugly win and closer than it should’ve been,” Gross said. Even so, he believes the Rams are built for a deep run. “Matthew Stafford is the most experienced quarterback in the playoffs, and they have such a strong offense.”

Gross said defense would be the biggest thing the Rams need to clean up. “The defense looked a little shaky,” he said. “You can always count on receivers like Puka Nacua and Davante Adams to make plays.”

Noah Owens said he felt confident in the Patriots heading into their playoff game. “I think it’s going to be a good game,” Owens said. “Stefon Diggs is going to have two touchdowns, and our defense is going to shut C.J. down.”

When the games were played, defense played a major role just like many students expected. The Texans and Patriots game stayed close, with both teams struggling to score for long stretches. The Rams relied on their offense and quarterback experience to get past their opponent, even with some defensive mistakes. Overall, the games showed that strong defense and veteran leadership are still key factors in winning playoff football.
