We are excited to share that 5 of our incredibly gifted Mooney students recently participated in two fantastic STEM sessions — An AI-Accelerated Competition to Build a Gas Turbine and A LEGO-Themed Introduction to Manufacturing — and they won the competition!Â
We were invited by AWT Foundation, our partners in our RoboBots program, to join them for a very unique event for select high schools in Mentor, OH.
During the event, our students took part in a hands-on manufacturing activity led by two MIT professors, Dr. John Liu and Dr. Zhen Zhao. This program is typically offered to first-year engineering students at MIT, making this an amazing opportunity for our students to experience college-level engineering learning.
Using LEGO bricks, students explored the world of manufacturing and engineering, learning about systems, processes, and the role manufacturing plays in innovation.Â
Their teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills helped them rise to the top in the competition AND WIN!
We are incredibly proud of their team work and creativity. Experiences like this not only build valuable skills but also inspire future careers in engineering and advanced manufacturing.
Congratulations to our students for representing Cardinal Mooney so well!Â
Thank you to our principal, Mr. Brendan Considine for joining them to this truly amazing event!Â
